Phloretin is a natural dihydrochalcone found in the peel and root bark of juicy fruit such as apple and pear. It mainly used in cosmetics as a natural skin whitening agent, and food, medicine, health products and other fields.
Phloretin, as flavor raw material, was listed in the FEMA catalog in 2011(FEMA4390), included in the list of China's food additives GB2760 in 2014, code N376; It's also listed in INCI with EC. No 200-488-7.

Phloretin, as a natural cosmetic additive, is used in facial mask, skin creams / creams, lotions and serums. Its main functions are:
1. Phloretin or phloretin with ferulic acid and vitamin C can significantly reduce the UV caused by skin persistent melanin and erythema, the melanin control within a reasonable range, there is to prevent hair whitening and

The examples show that compared with pomegranate juice of Sample 1 added with 150ppm stevia and Sample 2 added with 35ppm phloretin and 150ppm Stevia, phloretin significantly reduced the sourness and bitterness of the sample while increasing the flavor of the pomegranate juice.

The examples show that the addition of phloretin (30 ppm) to tropical juices has significantly lower bitterness and astringency compared to addition of sucrose (5%) and stevia (25 ppm).
3. By altering the off-flavor sensations of natural high intensity sweeteners, masking other negative flavor profiles such as bitter, licorice, and sour to change the organoleptic properties;
4. As a sweet-smelling aroma, ploretin is used with other sweeteners, fragrances, and non-actives or carriers to prepare an aroma composition for reducing or inhibiting the unpleasant taste impression in the mouth.
Phloretin is rich in biological activity. For health care products in the anti-oxidation, hypoglycemia, blood vessels and other functions, the main effects are:
1. Phloretin can scavenge DPPH radical, ABTS free radical and inhibit lipid peroxidation activity in a concentration-dependent manner.
2. Phloretin can significantly inhibit T lymphocyte proliferation and reduce macrophage NO release, so phloretin has potential anti-inflammatory effect;
3. In terms of immunosuppression, it can increase the fluidity of the lipid bilayer in the cell and increase the type and activity of drugs that can permeate the cell membrane.
